This piece is an ethereal interpretation of an historic photograph taken of employees filling coffee bags in the Van Rooy Building. As a facsimile of this space, in the actual room where the women worked, this piece connotes the passage of time and is a tribute to the labor of the past.
Commissioned by SPACES for SPACES to SPACES: A Roving Housewarming Party, 2017.
The grand opening of SPACES in the Van Rooy Coffee Building was a weekend long celebration designed to showcase the new neighborhood and home of SPACES-in the Hingetown area of Ohio City-as well as the impact on artists and audience members for almost 40 years.
